When and what is the Minecraft Caves & Cliffs launch date?

The Minecraft Caves & Cliffs are actually coming in two parts. Part one will arrive on June 8, 2021.

The exact time is not known, however, online predictions seem to place it at between 3 and 5 pm from a UK perspective. If/when a launch date is confirmed, we’ll let you be the first to know!

Part two is still unknown, but we expect more information to be available shortly after we all have gotten our hands on the first part. We expect that the second installment will be available in no time. It should arrive just in time for us all to get our hands on the first.

It was originally supposed to launch simultaneously, or at least that was what we were told in October last year. However, we learned in April that it was being split into two due to its size, and the complications associated with remote working during a Pandemic.

What will the Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Update add?

We know when it will be released, but what does that mean? You get 91 new items and blocks in the game, including deepslate, copper, and dripleaf. As new mob types, Wardens, Axolotls and Goats are also included!

The caves will undergo some changes, as new shapes and Cave Biomes will be added to the game. These Cave Biomes will also have their own vegetation and geology. You will see them grow larger and more open areas within them, which is a refreshing change from the norm. Underground lakes may also be added to make them more water-friendly.

We know so far that the cave biomes are:

Lush Caves

Underground areas might now be home to a greater variety of greens, thanks to the addition of glow berries and dripleaf leaves as well as green coloured blocks.

These areas are home to Azalea Trees, so keep an eye out for them if you’re looking for a cave.

Dripstone Caves

The Dripstone Caves are being enhanced with stalactites and stalagmites. These are more like vines than the blocks we are used to. One piece can break, and the whole lot will. Also, be aware that you could get hurt if you fall into a pit filled with stalagmites.

Deep Dark

You can find new Warden mobs here and Skull Sensors there. The lights in the cave will begin to dim when you are near a Warden, which is both nice and alarming!
